Plum entered the week as one of three undefeated teams in the PIHL.

Now there are two.

On Monday, the Mustangs lost their first game on home ice in two years as they dropped a 6-4 decision to North Hills despite a hat trick from forward Nolan Puhala. It wasn’t the loss that necessarily upset Plum, but the way the team lost.

“We just have to start playing for each other and playing the system,” Plum coach Vincent Somma said. “This was not team hockey, it was selfish, no one came prepared and it’s not how you win.”

Prior to the North Hills game, Plum (7-1-0) had been one of the best teams in Class 2A at both ends of the ice. The Mustangs are still averaging 6.3 goals per game, but before allowing six to the Indians they had only surrendered 10 goals in seven games.

They allowed three in the first period to North Hills.
